Here we will tell the exciting history of two impressive palaces: Nymphenburg Palace and Blutenburg Palace. You will learn about the fascinating architecture of palaces, villas and parks as well as a sad love story or two. You may have heard Munich being called the northernmost Italian city? Well, you’ll know the answer as to why after this tour! You can easily extend the tour to a full day by visiting the various museums along the way. You will find information about this in the text. If you are on foot, it is best to use public transportation to get back to the city afterwards. Alternatively, you can also make a bike tour out of the route. The starting point, the Nymphenburg Palace, can be reached by streetcar 17 directly from the main train station (stop Nymphenburg Palace, 11 stops – 15 minutes). We recommend you to buy a day ticket – this is available at every ticket machine at the tram-subway-bus stops or directly in the MVG Fahrinfo app. If you are interested in the bike tour, you can rent a bike at the main station, for example. It is then another 25min (5.3km) to the castle. Keep in mind that your tour will take a while and you will cover some kilometers – we advise you to bring sturdy shoes, something to drink and sunscreen or warm clothes. Also, this tour ends far from the city center, so you should plan beforehand how to get home or what to do after the tour.
